Privacy Policy

Spotsie.com is a web application for listing and browsing rental and subletted houses and apartments. All content related to properties listed on Spotsie.com is not at all affiliated with Spotsie.com but by the owner/user who contributed it. All services provided by Spotsie.com are for public use. All information you give us is completely and entirely secured and will in no way ever be released to anyone without your consent and approval.

Why do you want to know my name, e-mail address, and school...?
We use your name and email address to keep track of our users, provide personalized content for you, and for others (landlords or students interested in your properties) to contact you. We require that you give your school so that we can provide listings based on your college or university.
Why do you want to know my street address, phone number, etc?
For students this information is completely optional. You can provide it for landlords or other students to contact you more easily. We do require more contact information from landlords to ensure their validity and so you can reach them if you're interested in one of their listings.
What other information do you keep track of and about me?
Any contact information you provide (phone numbers, addresses, zip codes), comments you write, a listing of the searches you save, the properties you save, the friends you have, and the properties you view. All of this information is stored so you can access it when you log in, and is also provided to landlords so that they can track how successful their listings are.

We also store your login information in a cookie so that when you return to the site you don't need to log in again. To remove these cookies, you can simply click the "Logout" tab (if you're logged in) above.
Do you share my information with other parts of your company?
Our company is very small, all the information is stored among us, and we rarely, if ever, access it directly. The main reason for storing the information you give us is to provide it to you later when you log in.
Do you share my information with other companies?
Absolutely not and we never will. We've used other sites before and know the importance of user privacy so we make a great effort to ensure that anything you send us is 100% safe and that you can always remove it if you want.
Do you sell my information to anyone?
For the same reasons as above, we never, and will never share or sell anything you give us to anyone.
What do you do if one of your employees violates my privacy?
We would be just as upset as you if someone in our close-knit team violated any user's privacy. Aside from us trying like heck to undo whatever was done, that employee wouldn't be working for Spotsie anymore and we'd work with you to resolve any issues.
Can I personally see and change the information you have about me?
You can change any or all of the contact information (except your username) whenever you like. That means you have full access over removing and editing any information you've given us. However, you need to provide at least a name, email address, and school. You also can not remove any comments you post, unless you email us and ask us to, then we more than likely would. For landlords and subletters, you can edit all of the information, add or remove photos, and change anything about you or your properties as you see fit. We do require a minimum amount of contact information and property information.
How can I start or stop receiving e-mail from you?
The only email we will send you is a required message for you to confirm your account with us (or when you change your email address). We will also email landlords if a student or anyone requests information or inquires about a property through our site. You may also recieve emails from your friends who either invite you to join Spotsie, or want to share a listing with you. To stop receiveing emails alltogether you will need to email us to remove your account entirely.
How can I completely remove my information and account from your site?
To remove you account completely and all saved data you have with us (saved and listed properties and sublets, searches, friends, contact information, etc...) you will need to email us requesting your account be closed. However, all properties you've viewed as well as comments you have made will remain with us. If it is absolutely critical that this information be removed as well, we will work with you to resolve any issues and take appropriate action.
Who can I talk to if I have a question about my privacy?
For all questions regarding your privacy, you can email us and we'll do our best to get back to you and answer your questions as soon as possible. Privacy is an issue we take seriously at Spotsie, so please let us know if you have any questions regarding it and if there's anything we should be doing to better ensure your privacy.
