Listing a property on Spotsie couldn't be made any easier! It's a three step process where you can add property details, features, and photos. You can even load the detals and features from another property already listed by using a template. Listing properties is limited to users with a landlord account.
To list a property, log in to your landlord account and click List a Property at the top of the page. It will bring you to a 3-step form for submitting a listing to Spotsie. The first step is to add property information like address, rent, title, description, etc. The second step is to tag schools to the property and check off any features and amenities. Finally, you can upload up to 4 photos in the 3rd step and list the property.
Only registered landlords can list a property. Make sure that you are logged in and that you have a landlord account. When you do, you will have access to listing properties. You can sign up for landlord accounts
here.
The property details section of listing a property requires you to provide information about property such as rent, security deposit, bedrooms, bathrooms, address, title, description, lease length, start of lease, etc. All of this information is required and it is the only information, other than tagging schools, that is.
When listing a new property, you have the option to apply the information and features (a template) from a previous listing. It will take all of the property details, tagged schools, and features and amenities from the chosen listing, and input it directly into the new one. This can save you time when listing multiple properties with similar attributes.
Spotsie search works based on the principle that every property listed has at least one school "tagged" to it. What this means is that when you are listing properties, you assign any number of schools to it based on where the property is located. We look up the schools for you and you can check and uncheck whichever ones you wish to have your property tied to. We do require that at least one school is tagged to a property, if there are none, then the listing will never show up in any search results. It's best to tag as many as are given to show up in the most possible search results. Spotsie gives you all schools within a 4 mile radius of the zip code that you list the property under.
You need to tag at least one school to a property in order for it to show up in any listings. All of the searching, whether its by city, zip code, or school, boils down to which schools were tagged to each property. So if no schools are attached to the listing, it will never show up in any results. Tagging is a simple behind-the-scenes action that we do for you. You have the option to uncheck schools that you do not want associated with the listing, but by default all of the schools within a 4 mile radius are initially checked off.
In the second step of listing a property you can add features and amenities. We have many features there for you to simply check off, but there are also fields for you to enter your own in case we've missed some. You can add as many extra features as you'd like. Simply click the plus sign icon to add more. To remove one, click the minus sign and it will delete it.
Adding more than one extra feature is done by clicking the plus sign button next to the input field. If when you click that button nothing happens, check to make sure you have Javascript enabled and that your browser can support Javascript. This feature is exclusive to browsers running Javascript, and almost all do. If yours is disabled, simply re-enable it.
To upload photos, click the browse button to find the image on your computer and then click upload to upload it to our site. This process can take anywhere from a few seconds to thirty depending on you connection speed. If you have Javascript enabled you will see a little progress image spinning to denote that its doing work. Once the image is uploaded you'll see a smaller version and options to add a caption, choose it to be the default image for your property, and also to remove it. Uploading photos is not required, and if you have no uploaded images for a listing, a default placeholder image will be used.
You can upload up to 4 photos for each property you have.
When you choose to make one of you photos the default, it becomes the image users see when your listing comes up in search results, and it is also the first photo they will see when navigating to that listing's property page. You can change which image is the default easily in the property manager.
A caption for the photo is a short description about the image. It will show up in the photo viewer when a user clicks that image on the property page for that listing.
When all of the required information is entered and you're ready to list your property, we'll create the property page for it and provide you with a link to view it. This listing will be immediately available for searching and browsing on the site. To edit it or remove it go to your property manager and find the appropriate listing.
